3D Modeling and Animation

Otto

A short animated film about a janitor at a high school for monsters. I created all models, rigs, textures, and animations as well as the sound design.

Otto - Character Process

Next! Here is the sculpt for Otto done in Zbrush.

Moonshiner’s Shack Environment (WIP)

This was an exercise for a class I did to learn more about the Art pipeline for Unity. I textured the shack, terrain, and moonshine still.

Skills Used:

  • Environment and hard surface modeling in Maya

  • Texturing with fill layers in Substance Painter.

  • Baking normals in Zbrush.

  • Importing and staging in Unity.

  • And more!

Here is the retopologized model of my character after I added the clothing

Finally, here are some pictures of the rig and animation controls for Otto. I tried to make them as fully featured as possible including the nodules on the top of the head, knees, IK for the legs, and tail controls. Everything was used in the final animation with the exception of the eyelid controls. I instead opted for blendshapes in Maya to give him different facial expressions. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed the short!

More 3D Fun!

LilCar

A little car I made that I liked!

This is a render of my character Otto with full textures done in Substance painter and a toon shader applied. The toon shader didn’t make it into the final short.

First! The original concept art for Otto!

A little has changed in the final version including a switch to a floor buffer rather than a mop. This helped me stay in scope with the project.

Though I hope I retained the spirit of the character
